Sonia Sidhu is the Liberal Member of Parliament for Brampton South. She was elected to the House of Commons for the first time in 2015.
Sidhu has been actively involved in political campaigns at the municipal, provincial, and federal levels for many years. She says that her priorities for Brampton South are infrastructure development, youth unemployment and economic growth. She promised during the campaign that the community would see investment in infrastructure.
A passionate community advocate, she has volunteered with numerous organizations, including the environmental initiatives of Guru Nanak Mission Canada in Brampton South, Nahani Way Public School, Trillium Health Centre and Karma Grow, a local charity community garden initiative. She has deep roots in the local South Asian community and works diligently to foster and strengthen the relationships between its members and other communities.
Sidhu is registered cardiology technologist, diabetes educator and clinical research coordinator. She has a Bachelor of Arts from India and speaks English, Punjabi, Hindi, and Urdu.
