Serge Cormier



Serge Cormier is the Liberal Member of Parliament for Acadie­Bathurst. Elected to the House of Commons in 2015, he currently serves as the Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship.

The son of an inshore fisher, Cormier is a lifelong resident of Acadie–Bathurst and knows the riding’s strengths and issues well. He began his career by acquiring a small company to finance his business administration studies.

Cormier was later appointed Chief of Staff in several Government of New Brunswick departments, he organized and participated in several diplomatic missions at home and abroad, and worked on high­-priority local economic issues.

Cormier continued as a policy analyst in the Office of the Official Opposition and as an assistant to the Premier, the Honorable Brian Gallant, responsible for Northern New Brunswick.

Cormier served as a board member of the Caraquet Chamber of Commerce. He organized several minor and adult hockey tournaments, and was involved in Club de golf Pokemouche for many years.

Cormier and his wife Anick have two daughters and know the challenges facing young families.
