Rhéal Fortin

Bloc Québécois

Rhéal Fortin is the newly elected MP for RivièreduNord and the interim leader of the Bloc Québécois. He says he is taking his new roles one step at a time.

Before running for office, Fortin was a practicing lawyer and president of Bissonnette Fortin Giroux. He also served as president of the Barreau LaurentidesLanaudière, an organization he helped found, and was responsible for several committees in that position.

Fortin is a longtime political activist and has volunteered for the Parti Québécois and the Bloc Québébois since his youth. He is a passionate sovereignist.

Before earning his law degree at the Université de Sherbrooke, Fortin trained as an electrician and worked in a Laval factory.
