René Arseneault



René Arsenault is the newly elected Liberal MP for Masawaska–Restigouche. He has been named to the Special Joint Committee on Physician­-Assisted Dying.

Arsenault has a Bachelor of Social Science, with a focus on economics and political science, and a Bachelor of Laws from the Université de Moncton. He has worked as a practicing lawyer for more than two decades, opening his own practice in 1996 with his wife Michèle Pelletier. He specializes in civil litigation and corporate law.

Arsenault does pro bono legal work in his community. He is the co­founder of the Balmoral Economic Development Association, the Fondation École Régionale BDES inc. and Coopérative Radio Restigouche ltée.

Arsenault is also a singer­songwriter who in 1989 won the Prix du public [people’s choice award] at the Gala de la chanson de Caraquet.

He is an advocate for economic development, believing that small business is an integral part of growth. Arseneault is also youth advocate and community organizer, and gives back by coaching soccer and volleyball in his riding.
