Raj Grewal is a rookie MP representing the riding of Brampton East. Before being elected, Grewal was a involved with the Liberal party for over a decade, taking on various roles and responsibilities such as Treasurer for the Mississauga–Brampton South Liberal Riding Association, Director of Operations for a Liberal MP, and was Regional Director for Justin Trudeau’s leadership campaign.
Prior to being elected, Grewal was an accomplished lawyer, specializing in corporate finance and mergers and acquisitions. Grewal has a Bachelor’s degree in business administration from Wilfrid Laurier University and an MBA from the Schulich School of Business. He earned his Juris Doctor from Osgoode Hall Law School and was called to the Ontario Bar in 2014.
He is a member in good standing of the Law Society of Upper Canada. Before going into law, Grewal worked as a financial analyst.
Grewal has deep roots within the community having lived in Brampton for more than 20 years. He has been involved in many youth and environmental engagement organizations, such as KarmaGrow, a community garden project. Grewal is dedicated to providing Food Banks with a reliable source of fresh vegetables.
He also volunteers at the Guru Gobind Singh Children’s Foundation, providing pro bono legal assistance. He is an advocate for youth with the burden of large student debts, as well as Brampton families living paycheck to paycheck.
