Patrice (Pat) Finnigan is the new Member of Parliament for Miramichi–Grand Lake.
For more than 40 years Finnigan and his wife have run a family farming business. The company, Really Local Harvest, is best known as M. Tomate. The business features large greenhouses growing organic produce, annuals and perennials as well as a café, bakery, ice cream stand and boutique. The business does regular fundraising for local charities and employs 40 people.
During the campaign, Finnigan spoke out in support of the new free trade agreement with Europe and the Trans-Pacific Partnership saying that these deals could create jobs in his region.
He was a founding member of La Récolte de Chez Nous cooperative, a network that allows producers to exchange products and promote their industry.
Finnigan has served as chair of the board of the Atlantic Association of Community Business Development Corporations and president of the Kent Community Business Development Corporations and the Régie de la Santé de Miramichi. His community involvement has been recognized on multiple occasions. He won the 2008 Award of Excellence from the province for community leadership and was named Kent County Citizen of the Year in 2011.
He is the one-time president of the Miramichi Community Action Committee and served on the Minister of Agriculture’s roundtable.
Finnigan has a technical diploma in phytology from the Nova Scotia Agricultural College.
