The MP for West Vancouver–Sunshine Coast–Sea to Sky Country, Pam Goldsmith-Jones has been named Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of International Trade.

Before being elected to the House of Commons, Goldsmith­-Jones served two terms as Mayor of West Vancouver. As Mayor she was known for her commitment to urban revitalization, conservation and the arts. She is also an advocate for improving child care services.

Under her leadership, the City of West Vancouver was awarded the UN Global Green City Award for the restoration of the foreshore/intertidal zone. She also worked on Vancouver’s fundraising efforts in advance of the 2010 Winter Olympics.

After leaving her position as Mayor, Goldsmith–Jones earned an MBA from Simon Fraser University’s Beedie School, specializing in aboriginal business and leadership. She went on to start her a public affairs consulting firm.

She also holds a Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts from the University of British Columbia, specializing in political science.

Goldsmith-­Jones is married and has three grown children. Her family history in West Vancouver goes back more than a century.
