The new MP for Saint-Léonard–Saint-Michel, Nicola Di Iorio, has been practicing law for 32 years. He specializes in labour and employment law and is a partner at Langlois Kronström Desjardins.
His practice has been recognized by his peers and ranks regularly among lawyers most recommended by their peers. In 2014, he was recognized as one of the country’s leading labour and employment lawyers in The Best Lawyers in Canada.
In 2015, Di Iorio was named Person of the Year by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Saint-Laurent–Mount Royal for founding Cool Taxi. The pre-paid taxi coupon is meant to provide people a safe drive home. He started Cool Taxi after his daughter spent a month in a coma following an accident involved a drunk driver.
Di Iorio cofounded the Centro Leonardo da Vinci and a member of the board of the Italian-Canadian Community Foundation of Quebec.
He has a Bachelor of Laws from Université de Sherbrooke and a Master’s in law from Columbia University. Di Iorio now teaches at McGill University and at the Quebec Bar’s professional training school.
Di Iorio is the Secretary of the Board of Centro Leonardo da Vinci – an organization that he co-founded – and Secretary of the Board of the Italian-Canadian Community Foundation of Quebec. He has co-authored two works entitled Les normes du travail.
