Luc Thériault

The new MP for Montcalm, Luc Thériault is the House Leader for the Bloc Québécois.

Before being elected to the House of Commons Thériault served as a Member of the National Assembly for Masson representing the Parti Québécois.

After leaving provincial politics, Thériault was a special advisor to the leader of the Bloc Québécois. He has also served as a member of the Maisonneuve-­Rosemont Hospital’s ethics committee and on the board of the Maisonneuve Cooperative School.

Thériault has a Bachelor’s degree in philosophy and a Master’s in political philosophy from Université du Québec à Montréal. He also has a Diplôme d’études supérieures spécialisées in bioethics from the Université de Montréal. He taught philosophy at Collège de Maisonneuve for almost 20 years. He returned to teaching after being defeated in the 2007 provincial election.
