The new MP for Mégantic–L’Érable, Luc Berthold, has been named the deputy critic for infrastructure and communities. Before being elected to the House of Commons, Berthold served as Mayor of Thetford Mines between 2006 and 2013.
During his time as Mayor, Berthold also served as president of the Société de développement économique locale and the Caucus des Cités régionales du Québec and vice-president of the Conférence régionale des Élus de Chaudière-Appalaches. He also served on l’Union des municipalités du Québec.
Berthold was involved in provincial politics for a number of years and worked as a press secretary and head of cabinet communications for the leader of the opposition. He also served as Chief of Staff to the Minister of Tourism and to the Minister of Transport. Before starting his work in politics, Berthold was a journalist and radio host at CKLD and the editor-in-chief of the Courrier Frontenac.
Born and raised in Sherbrooke, Berthold has lived in Mégantic―L’Érable for almost 30 years. He has three children.
