Before being elected to the House of Commons the new MP for Rivière-des-Mille-Îles, Linda Lapointe was a member of the National Assembly. As an MNA for the Action démocratique du Québec, Lapointe served as vice-chair of the Committee on Public Finance and the deputy whip for the official opposition.
Prior to serving as the MNA for Groulx Lapointe was owner and manager of a Provigo grocery store. She took the store over from her parents in 1997 and sold it in 2006. She also worked for the Association des détaillants en alimentation du Québec and was a member of the Boisbriand Economic Development Committee and the Conseil régional d’Emploi-Québec.
Lapointe served as Honourary Chair of La Grande Sortie in 2006 and has been a spokesperson for the Coalition pour l’assouplissement des heures d’affaires.
Lapointe has a diploma in health sciences from CEGEP Ahuntsic and a Bachelor’s degree in business administration from the Université de Montréal. She also has an MBA from HEC Montréal. Lapointe is a mother of four.
