Before being elected as the new MP for Newmarket–Aurora, Kyle Peterson was a partner at the Toronto law firm of Affleck Greene McMurtry LLP.
As a lawyer he specialized in commercial litigation and advocacy. Peterson has a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Western Ontario and a Master’s degree from the University of Toronto and an MBA from the Rotman School of Management.
He got his law degree from Dalhousie University.
He is a onetime director of the York Region branch of United Way and as chair of the Aurora–Newmarket Family Health Team. He is a member of the Newmarket Chamber of Commerce and on the Newmarket Economic Advisory Committee.
Before running as a candidate Peterson served as the riding association president for the Newmarket–Aurora Federal Liberal Association.
Born and raised in the riding, Peterson now lives there with his wife and two sons.
