Karine Trudel is the NDP MP for Joquière and has been named the party’s critic for Canada Post and deputy critic for Labour. Before being elected to the House of Commons, Trudel was a mail carrier and president of the Canadian Union of Postal Workers Local 390 in Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean. In that role she fought against government cuts to the postal service. She will continue this fight in her new position.
She says that her priority in Ottawa is to protect jobs and build the region’s economy.
Gould studied social science at college and administration at university before she started working at Canada Post.
She is a single mother with two children. She was encouraged to run by her parents, who are retired and offered to fully support her and her children.
