Before being elected at the new MP for Oakville, John Oliver served as the President and CEO of Halton Healthcare Services. In this role he led the project for the new Oakville Hospital, an infrastructure investment of $2.7 billion. He is also the one-time assistant deputy minister in the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care.
Oliver also served as chair of the Partnerships for Health Systems Improvement Review Panel of the Canadian Institute of Health Research. He has also been a pension observer of the Hospitals of Ontario Pension Plan Board. He is passionate about Canada’s universal health care system and the Canada Health Act.
He also believes the government needs to find a sustainable balance between economic development and environmental protection.
He has a Bachelor of Commerce degree from McMaster University and a Master’s in health administration from the University of Toronto. He is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ontario.
He is married with three children. The family has lived in the riding for almost two decades.
