Jamie Schmale

Haliburton–Kawartha Lakes–Brock

Conservative

The newly elected Conservative MP for Haliburton–Kawartha Lakes–Brock is excited to be able to give back to the riding where he grew up. He says Haliburton–Kawartha Lakes–Brock gave him a rich childhood and a good education.

Before running for office, Schmale worked as the campaign manager and also as executive assistant for the region’s former MP Barry Devolin. Devolin hired Schmale after beating him in the 2003 nomination race. Devolin announced in 2013 that he would not seek another term and Schmale opted to take the chance and run again.

As Devolin’s executive assistant, Schmale oversaw communications and outreach and served as a liaison for local issues. Schmale also volunteered in the community, working with Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Victoria-Haliburton, Easter Seals and the Community Care City of Kawartha Lakes.

Schmale has a diploma in radio broadcasting from Loyalist College in Belleville, Ontario. After graduating he worked as a news anchor and news director for CHUM Media and covered news, municipal politics and sports for CKLY in Lindsay, Ontario.
