Newly elected MP James Maloney has a Bachelor’s degree from Bishop’s University and law degrees from University of Windsor and the University of Wales, Cardiff.
He has lived in Etobicoke and worked as a civil trial lawyer for almost 40 years. He is a partner at Hughes Amys LLP and a past president of the Toronto Lawyers Club.
Before running for election himself, Maloney served as campaign manager for Toronto city councillor Mark Grimes in 2010. In 2014 he was appointed Toronto’s interim councillor for Ward 5 (Etobicoke Lakeshore) following the resignation of Peter Milczyn.
Maloney is active in the community of Etobicoke–Lakeshore. He served of the board of directors for the Franklin Horner Community Centre and the Catholic Children’s Aid Society of Toronto, a Toronto nonprofit that works to support children and families.
Maloney says it’s important that the federal government work with municipalities to fund infrastructure. He has also said that transit is a priority for the riding.
