Gudie Hutchings

Long Range Mountains


The MP for Long Range Mountains, Gudrid (Gudie) Hutchings, is focused on on building a sustainable and prosperous future for the region and Newfoundland and Labrador. She won the riding with 74 per cent of the vote. Hutchings has been named Parliamentary Secretary for Small Business and Tourism.

She worked in the outfitting and tourism industries for over 30 years. In that time she served as both president and vice­-president of the Newfoundland and Labrador Outfitters Association. She also worked as Chair and Managing Director of the Battle Harbour Historic Trust, an organization dedicated to preserved Battle Harbour.

Hutchings was born and raised in Corner Brook and is very active in her community. She is a past president of the Corner Brook Chamber of Commerce, served on the Memorial University Board of Regents. She has also been involved with Scouts Canada.

She served as co­chair of the Forget­Me­Not Campaign, a group dedicated to memorializing veterans, and on the organizing committee of the National Special Olympics, which Corner Brook will be hosting in 2016. Hutchings has also worked in different roles with Hospitality Newfoundland and Labrador, the Cabot 500 Celebrations, the Provincial Tourism Marketing Council, and the Canadian Sustainable Tourism Association of Canada.
