The Honourable Ginette Petitpas Taylor was elected MP for Moncton–Riverview–Dieppe in 2015, and currently serves as the Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Finance. As the former Deputy Government Whip, she was sworn in as a Member of the Queen’s Privy Council. In 2017, she was appointed Minister of Health.
Before her election to the House of Commons, Taylor was the RCMP Victim Services Coordinator for the Codiac region. In this role she provided crisis counselling, and domestic violence intervention and risk assessment.
Taylor is the former chair of the New Brunswick Advisory Council on the Status of Women and a member of the Coalition for Pay Equity. She also worked with the City of Moncton’s Public Safety Advisory Committee.
She graduated from the Université de Moncton with a degree in social work. She has a passion for social issues and has volunteered for such organizations as the Coalition Against Abuse in Relationships and the Canadian Mental Health Association’s Suicide Prevention Committee in Moncton.
Taylor was born and raised in Dieppe, NB, one of nine children.
