The new Bloc MP for Joliette, Gabriel Ste-Marie was born and raised in Saint-Jean-de-Matha.
Before his election to the House of Commons Ste-Marie was an economics teacher at Cégep régional de Lanaudière à Joliette. He also worked as a researcher in contemporary economics at the Université du Québec à Montréal’s Institut de recherche en économie contemporaine. He also worked as a lecturer at UQAM.
Ste-Marie specializes in the Quebec economy and its industries, energy, public finance and the history of economics. He writes for a monthly economics column for L’Aut’Journal. He is passionate about the values behind the Bloc, defending Quebec’s interests, and promoting Quebec independence and social democracy.
