François-Philippe Champagne is the newly elected MP for Saint-Maurice–Champlain. He has been named the Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Finance. Prior to his election Champagne worked as a lawyer, businessman and international trade specialist.
Prior to his election, he was the Vice-Chairman at Bionest Technologies, an international green technology firm. He served in that role for almost a decade. Champagne was once named a Young Global Leader by World Economic Forum.
Champagne has a diploma in business administration from Collège Laflèche in Trois-Rivières, a Bachelor’s in law from Université de Montréal and a Master’s in Law from Case Western Reserve University. He was called to the Quebec bar in 1994. He also has a certificate in international law from Académie de droit international de La Haye.
In his career he has worked internationally. He was the Group Vice-President and Senior Counsel at ABB Group, a robotics and automation company. He was Strategic Development Director, acting General Counsel and Chief Ethics Officer and Member of the Group Management Committee at AMEC, an international engineering firm. Champagne has also been active on several boards, including TakingITGlobal, Incheon Bridge Corporation (South Korea) and the C3E (Canadian Center of Excellence in Energy Efficiency.
He is very active in the community. Champagne has served as a speaker at the Rassemblement jeunesse de la Mauricie, Honorary President for the Regional Alliance of the Mauricie’s Chambers of Commerce, the Poppy Campaign and the Relay for Life in Shawinigan.
He has called former Prime Minister Jean Chretien his inspiration for entering politics.
