Eva Nassif is the newly elected Liberal MP for Vimy. Born in Lebanon, Nassif emigrated to Canada in 1993. Before moving she earned a diploma in nursing and worked at a registered nurse at the American University Hospital in Beirut.
After arriving in Canada, Nassif earned a Bachelor of Arts and a Master’s of Arts in translation from Concordia University. She then became a certified translator. While a student Nassif was the cochair of the Concordia University Graduate Students Association in Translation.
Nassif is passionate about women’s rights. She is a member of the Laval Women’s Centre and of the Femmes, Politique et Démocratie group. She is also an advocate for youth and since 2009 has been working with Diapason-Jeunesse, an NGO specialization in the education and integration of Canadian youth. She has also worked as a teacher in the Laval School Board. She has also served as a member of the Association lavalloise du transport adapté and Laval’s board of trade.
She is married to Georges Abi-Saad, an engineer, and is the mother of triplets.
