Dan Ruimy

Pitt Meadows–Maple Ridge

After 27 years working in the food and beverage industry Dan Ruimy settled in Maple Ridge, BC and opened a bookstore and coffee shop, Bean Around Books and Tea in 2011. He says that owning the coffee shop has taught him the benefit of bringing the community together.

Ruimy has lived in BC’s Lower Mainland for more than two decades. He says he plans to bring his lifetime of experience of hard work and realworld business experience to Ottawa as the new MP for Pitt Meadows–Maple Ridge. His priority issues are homelessness, affordable housing and providing assistance to youth and to seniors.

Before opening Bean Around Books and Tea, Ruimy founded Tactical Approach, a consulting company focused on business operations, training, franchise sales and brand development. He also worked as an instructor at Douglas College teaching sales and marketing and advised students in the self employment program.

Ruimy is a former reservist with the Canadian Armed Forces.

Ruimy was raised by his parents, André and Jacqueline, in the Côte-de-Neiges neighbourhood of Montreal where they owned a bakery and grocery store. His parents were Jewish immigrants from Morocco.
