Chandra Arya has a Bachelor’s in engineering and a Master’s of Business Administration. He has been professionally certified by the Canadian Securities Institute as an investment manager.
Over the course of his career, Arya has worked as an engineer, industrial banker, entrepreneur, investment advisor, and technology company executive. He was an executive with DTA Systems Inc., a manufacturer and exporter of high-end defence technology products. This work led Arya to gather a group of research agencies, multi-nationals, university and technology companies to try and set up a centre of excellence in defence electronics.
He has also worked with CIBC Wood Gundy, a wealth management company and was on the Board of Directors for Best Theratronics, a manufacturer and exporter of medical equipment.
For three years Arya served on the board of Invest Ottawa, an agent mandated to make Canada’s capital the best place in the country to start and grow a business. As a board member he worked closely with Ottawa’s Mayor and other business and community leaders. Very active in the community, Arya was the founding director of the Federation of Canadian Brazilian Businesses and has served on the board of other local organizations, including the OCISO Not-for-Profit Housing Corporation, the Ottawa Community Immigrant Services Organization and the Hindu Society of Ottawa-Carleton. He was the Chair of the Indo-Canada Ottawa Business Chamber and President of the Indo-Canadian Community Centre Inc.
He is married to Sangeetha, who currently works for Ottawa’s Catholic school board. They have one son.
