The newly elected MP for Saint-Hyacinthe–Bagot, Brigitte Sansoucy is the NDP’s critic for Families, Children and Social Development as well as the deputy critic for Health.
Before the election Sansoucy was a municipal councillor for Saint-Hyacinthe for six years. She also worked as regional development officer in Quebec’s Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food. She was also a director general of Auberge du cœur le Baluchon, a short-term shelter for homeless youth.
Sansoucy has a Bachelor’s Degree in business administration and a Master’s in public administration. She has been involved in many different organizations including Nuit des sansabris, an event that raises awareness of poverty and Corporation de développement communautaire des Maskoutains. She was also a founder of the Comité de Bassin Versant du ruisseau des Salines.
She has said her main priorities as an MP are the environment, youth and the economic development of the region of Saint-Hyacinthe–Bagot.
Sansoucy is married and has four children.
