Bernard Généreux



Bernard Généreux is a long­time businessman. Before his election to the House of Commons Généreux was the sitting mayor of the town of La Pocatière between 2005 and 2009.

In a 2009 by­election Généreux was elected as the MP for Montmagny–L’Islet–Kamouraska–Rivière­-du­-Loup. He then lost the riding to the NDP’s François Lapointe by five votes in 2011. After another judicial recount in 2015 Généreux was declared elected by 272 votes over the Liberal candidate. Between elections, Généreux was a member of the administrative council for the Port du Quebec and the Corporation for the development of Grosse-Île. He is also an active member of the Montmagny, Kamouraska-L’Islet et Revière-­du­-Loup Chamber of Commerce.

Généreux has a university certificate in corporate governance from Université Laval’s Collège des administrateurs de sociétés. He is the co­owner of Impressions Soleil, a printing company, Katapulte, a graphic and web design company, Gigrafe, a web strategy company, and Imprimerie Prétexte, an off­set printing company. Together these businesses have created more than 25 jobs in Rivière­-du­-Loup, La Pocatière and Québec City.

He is married and has two grown children and two grandchildren.
