Before entering federal politics, Alaina Lockhart was a local business owner and a municipal councillor.
Lockhart has owned a bridal boutique since 2004 and in 2010 was awarded the Chamber of Commerce Woman Entrepreneur Award in Sussex, New Brunswick. Prior to opening Lockhart’s Weddings and Special Occasions Inc. she was in human resources and holds a degree in Business Administration from the University of New Brunswick with a focus on human resources management.
Between 2004 and 2008 she was a municipal councillor for the Village of Norton. She has also served as the Director of the Royal District Planning Commission and as Director of the Enterprise Fundy Board for a yearlong term.
In 2014 Lockhart was the Chair and Logistics Coordinator for the Sussex Relay for Life which raised more than $80,000 for cancer research.
She is focused on partnerships between all levels of governments.
Lockhart is the second non-Conservative ever to represent Fundy Royal at the federal level.
