How to use Speak Up

Welcome to Speak Up, CFNU’s digital outreach tool for empowering nurses on the issues that matter. Here’s how you can take action.

The issue alerts are prominently featured on Speak Up’s main page. To access a specific issue alert, click TAKE ACTION. This will take you to the individual issue alert, which will give you a brief description of what the issue is about and what we’re asking elected officials to do about it.

Each specific issue alert will also feature a set of actions that it is asking you to do, which can be found on the right hand side of the web page or at the bottom when using the app. Click TAKE ACTION to get started. This should trigger a set of prompts that will ask you to do the following:

  1. Sign up for a newsletter to stay informed. This will simply ask for your email address to be entered.
  2. Chose elected officials to target. You can choose as few or as many as are listed.
  3. Share the issue alert on Facebook. This will come as a pop-up on your browser.
  4. Tweet at your chosen elected officials and share the issue alert on Twitter. This will come as a pop-up on your browser.
  5. Send an email to your chosen officials. On a computer, this will use your standard desktop email client (i.e. Outlook).

Please note you will need to enable pop-ups on your browser for this page to fully use the social media integration. Speak Up will not in any time send emails or post on social media on your behalf. It will simply pre-populate the Facebook post, tweet, and email that you can then personalize before sending.

Once finished, your actions will be added to the total tally that you can see on each individual issue alert page.
